Lucie's Sweetest 1 of All Princess Birthday Party

Lucie's first birthday is not officially until January 21st, but Jonathan will be away in Alabama that day working, so we had her party on the 12th. I have called Lucie "Princess" since she was born, so that was a perfect theme. Party City had plenty of decorations and paper goods available which fit both the Disney Princess AND 1st Birthday themes, and the Dollar Tree had some awesome mylar balloons at a very reasonable price ($1!) The Disney Princess cake we ordered from BJ's Wholesale Club.

We served pizza from Umbertos of New Hyde Park - Wantagh, cold cuts and fruit from Valley Caterers of Franklin Square, my mom's home made potato and pasta salads and garden salad for the main meal. For dessert, we had cakesicles made by my best friend, Tricia, gluten-free munchkins made by my Aunt Meg and cousin Theresa, chocolate chip cookies made by my grandmother, and of course, the Disney Princess cake. Lucie really enjoyed the cake and the cookies.

See that brown spot there on the cake? That's chocolate peeking through where her Grandpa Bill let her get too close to the cake, and she took some of the frosting and smeared it all over him!

After we cleaned them up, we opened some Princess gifts from our very generous friends and family.

Then, we sang, "Happy Birthday" to Lucie and Jonathan blew the candle out for her, since she did not know what to do yet, and his birthday was the next day.

FINALLY, Lucie was able to eat some cake!

After all the cake and cookies were eaten, I had the brilliant idea to open her Princess Songs Castle, which I did not realize was in 50 bagillion pieces. As I put it together, Lucie was trying to climb on it, and me!

Once I acquired the proper tools and was able to screw everything in together, with only one sticker misplaced (I put it on upside down accidentally, and in trying to peel it to restick it, it ripped. Hopefully, she will not notice for a very long time it is missing now!), it was finally time to play! Luckily, her cousin, Theresa, was around to show her just how doll houses work.

All in all, I would say the party was a success, and I am very happy with how things turned out. ;-)
