Welcome to the South

Things are different here in South Carolina from what I am used to. It is a bit of culture shock. Things are slower, people are more polite, real estate is affordable.

We are renting a 1300 square foot 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath townhouse for $645 a month. We have a small patio where Jonathan can barbecue. In New York, we looked at a 1 bedroom apartment on Long Island three years ago, where there was no patio, no place to barbecue, and was MAYBE a maximum of 600 square feet. If we had rented it, it would have cost us $1795/month.

Lucie is adjusting well, although she seems a bit confused. Above, she is reading a book at Cracker Barrel, where we went for brunch on Sunday. It was a bit difficult for the first few days, as our belongings did not arrive until Wednesday, but we got here on Saturday. We went out to eat a lot, and we slept on an air mattress. Lucie is still sleeping in the pack and play, because our screw gun disappeared, and we have to get a new one (or a nut driver) in order to put it back together.

We used Amazon Relocation Services for our move. The price was fair at $2.99 per cubic foot and we had a great deal at 50 cents a cubic foot for the packing. The guys from Amazon packed everything for us... except my undies, I packed those! They did a great job, and we had a lot of stuff!

Negatives: Our file cabinet arrived with a dent in the top, which was not there prior to shipping, my shoe rack was broken, and our screw gun, which they used to disassemble the crib never made it into a box, although I know for a fact that I gave it to the guys who I saw put it in the truck.
